Presentation

The Clube de Montanha do Funchal will organize the Madeira Orienteering Festival (MOF) on the 9th, 10th and 11th of January 2026, organized by the Portuguese Orienteering Federation and being the first event on the 2026 calendar of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). Three of the stages (1st, 2nd and 4th) will be organized by the Clube de Montanha do Funchal and the 3rd stage will be organized by the Associação Desportiva da Camacha.

The MOF is a pedestrian orienteering event, with three sprint stages and two medium distances. The first stage is a night sprint and qualifies for the Madeira Cup (Urban Sprint); the second stage is eligible for the Portuguese Cup and Madeira Cup (Pedestrian); the third stage for the World Sprint Ranking (WRE Sprint); the fourth stage is eligible for the Euro City Race Tour and Portugal City Race; Finally, the fifth stage is scored for the World Ranking (WRE Floresta), Portuguese Cup and Madeira Cup (Pedestrian). This is an event open to people of any age, and they can participate in the competition levels or open levels, individually or in a group. With the exception of the 3rd stage, all stages also count towards the Regional Ranking. We invite all Orienteering enthusiasts to participate in this next event and we welcome you in advance.
